Product Overview

The Ericsson Cradlepoint W1850 is an indoor 5G wideband adapter that adds primary or failover 5G connectivity to any fixed installation — without replacing the existing router or network infrastructure. It functions as a dedicated cellular modem, delivering 5G signal to your network via Ethernet while the router handles routing and security.

Peak downlink throughput of 4.1 Gbps (5G NSA) makes the W1850 capable of carrying the full bandwidth load of a busy branch or government facility. Four external SMA antenna connectors allow the antenna to be positioned separately from the adapter — which matters when you need the modem inside a cabinet but the antenna on a wall or ceiling for optimal signal.

Dual SIM with automatic carrier selection ensures continuity if one carrier experiences an outage. Pairs with Cradlepoint routers for full SD-WAN integration.

For facilities that want to add 5G without a full router replacement — as a primary connection or a failover layer — the W1850 is the purpose-built solution. Available on GSA Schedule. RCN Technologies provides site assessment, installation, and ongoing management.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Ericsson Cradlepoint W1850?
The W1850 is an indoor 5G wideband adapter delivering gigabit-class 5G connectivity for branch offices, retail, and enterprise locations. It's designed as a compact primary or failover cellular modem for fixed installations requiring maximum 5G performance, optimal antenna placement, and dedicated cellular connectivity.
What 5G and LTE bands does the W1850 support?
5G NR (NSA/SA): Bands n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n13, n14, n18, n20, n25, n26, n28, n29, n30, n38, n40, n41, n48, n66, n70, n71, n75, n76, n77, n78, n79. LTE fallback (Cat-19+): Bands B1–B7, B8, B12–B14, B17–B20, B25–B26, B28–B32, B66, B71 and TDD bands. 4x4 MIMO. 4 x SMA connectors (600 MHz–6 GHz). Peak downlink: 4.1 Gbps.
What are the W1850's key specifications?
Embedded 5G FR1 (NSA/SA) modem with Cat-19 LTE fallback. 4x4 MIMO cellular. Compact fixed adapter form factor designed for indoor mounting on walls or in equipment racks. Dual SIM (4FF). Operating temp: 0–40°C. Power: 12 VDC external supply. Throughput: 4.1 Gbps downlink (5G NSA), 3.4 Gbps (5G SA). Requires external antenna connectivity for optimal placement.
How is the W1850 deployed?
Mounted on interior walls, in equipment racks, or secured to structures within buildings. Designed for primary 5G connectivity or cellular failover for branch sites and retail locations. 4 external SMA antenna connectors (600 MHz–6 GHz) enable optimal antenna placement separate from the adapter. Supports Cradlepoint routers via Ethernet backhaul or can operate as standalone modem with IP passthrough.
What Panorama antenna options pair with the W1850?
The W1850 accepts RCN's Panorama 4x4 MiMo indoor and wall-mount antenna kits (SMA connectors, 600 MHz–6 GHz): desktop mounts, wall/mast antennas, multi-element domes, and directional options. External antennas positioned away from the adapter optimize 5G signal strength and support dual-cellular/failover deployments.
