It’s not easy to design and build reliable mobile networks. Engineers must account for coverage, terrain, atmospheric conditions, and the sheer brutality that instruments can face when exposed to outdoor conditions. That alone is a tall order, but all of these issues must be resolved cost-effectively without sacrificing performance. When the network covers vehicles or other moving targets, things get that much harder.

Thankfully, manufacturers are aware of these challenges, and they rise to the occasion. Panorama Antennas is no exception. They designed the SH-IN2440 Panorama Sharkee antenna kit to provide powerful connections across long ranges and in the worst conditions. The omnidirectional antenna supports 2x2 MIMO 4G LTE over the 698 to 3800 MHz frequency range at a 50-watt maximum input power. The discrete shark-fin design makes it great for overt or covert placements, and it is intended for use with large-scale mobile networks. The 5-in-1 MIMO multi-antenna includes two cellular, two WiFi, and one GPS/GNSS element.

In addition to high performance, The Panorama Sharkee antenna is ready to handle abuse. It can operate nominally from temperatures ranging from -40 to 80°C. It has stabilizing mounts, and it is IP66 rated. That means the SH-IN2440 Panorama Sharkee antenna is impervious to incursions of dust, and it can safely handle powerful water jets. The SH-IN2440 is a kit consisting of the SHKG-7-27-24-58 antenna and a complete set of low loss double shielded extension cables in 16-foot lengths for each antenna, all terminating in SMA connectors.

The SH-IN2440 Sharkee antenna mounts through a single hole drilled in the vehicle roof using an 18 mm (¾-inch) mounting bush. The slim profile fits between most vehicle roof rib lines. The kit's 16-foot (5-meter) low-loss, double-shielded cables (CS23 for GPS, CS29 UN118.03 and EN45545-2 compliant for LTE and WiFi) route from the rooftop antenna to the interior router or modem. A temporary magnetic mount (Panorama SAB-224) is sold separately for test-driving and field trials.

The SH-IN2440 is a 5:1 combination antenna: 2 LTE (2x2 MIMO) + 2 WiFi (2x2 MIMO) + 1 GPS. The kit includes five cables total. LTE and GPS elements terminate in SMA male connectors; WiFi elements terminate in RP-SMA connectors. Impedance is 50 ohms. The housing is constructed from ASA plastic, EPDM rubber, and aluminum alloy.
