FAQ
Can I add a two-way radio whip?
Yes. The GPSD-7-27 has an integral stud mount for an external antenna whip that Panorama states can support a range of VHF, UHF or 700/800 MHz antennas. That lets public safety and utility vehicles carry data and voice on one roof penetration. The whip itself is sold separately, so match it to your radio band.
Does it support 5G?
Panorama lists the GPSD-7-27 cellular function as 2x2 MIMO for 2G, 3G and 4G. If your deployment needs 5G bands, including 600 MHz or mid-band above 3.8 GHz, look at the GPSD-6-60-DW Sharkee, which covers 617-6000 MHz and keeps the radio whip stud. RCN can help you compare the two for your fleet.
What is in the kit?
The GP-IN2148 includes the GPSD-7-27-24-58 sharkfin antenna and a set of extension cables. The antenna itself has 0.3 m pigtails with SMA male cellular, FME female GPS and SMA female Wi-Fi connectors. Because Panorama does not list this kit on its current site, ask RCN to confirm the cable set before you order.
