Product Overview
The InHand IR302 is a compact, fanless industrial LTE router for the control cabinet: DIN-rail mount, 9-36 V DC input with reverse-polarity and surge protection, a full metal enclosure, and -35°C to +70°C operation. It puts a PLC, meter, camera, or panel on the cellular network with a router that was designed to live next to the equipment.
Dual SIM slots fail over on signal threshold, packet loss, or dial failure rather than simple polling. An RS-232/RS-485 combo port with transparent DTU mode handles legacy serial devices, and configurations with two digital I/O lines or Wi-Fi are available. Fleets are managed through InHand Device Manager.

Choosing a configuration
- FQ38 = LTE Cat 4 (150 Mbps). FQ33 = LTE Cat 1 (10 Mbps class), for low-bandwidth telemetry at the lowest cost.
- WLAN adds 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (AP or client).
- IO adds two digital I/O lines for alarm inputs or relay control.
Right for you if
- You are connecting a PLC, meter, RTU, or camera in a cabinet, not a desk
- You need serial-to-cellular for a legacy device
- The site is unattended and the router must recover on its own (watchdog, dual SIM, auto-redial)

Choose the IR302 for a single device or small cell with one or two Ethernet ports. FAQ
Which carriers does the IR302 support?
The North American FQ38 and FQ33 variants cover Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile LTE bands. Confirm carrier certification for your specific carrier with RCN before ordering in volume.
Does it support VPN?
Yes. The IR302 supports IPsec, OpenVPN, L2TP, and GRE tunnels, along with a firewall and access control lists. See the datasheet for the full list.
How is it managed?
Through InHand Device Manager for batch configuration and firmware, with optional InConnect Service for cloud-based remote access. Ask RCN about current platform terms.
Can RCN monitor and support it after purchase?
Yes. RCN's U.S.-based 24/7 NOC can monitor and support InHand deployments as a managed service, quoted separately from the hardware.
How long does it take to ship?
InHand hardware ships direct from the manufacturer's U.S. distribution. Lead times vary by model and quantity; ask us for a current estimate before you order if timing is critical.
Can we purchase on a purchase order or government contract?
