Product Overview
The InHand IR624 is the industrial 5G router for bandwidth-heavy edge sites: machine vision, high-resolution camera backhaul, robots and AGVs, and remote monitoring of production lines where LTE is the bottleneck. It brings 5G SA/NSA and four gigabit Ethernet ports into the same fanless DIN-rail form factor as the IR315.
Dual Nano-SIM failover, RS-232 and RS-485 serial, dual-band Wi-Fi 5, and heartbeat link detection with an embedded watchdog keep the site online; a 1.5 kV isolated Ethernet design and 15 kV ESD protection handle cabinet conditions. The unit is managed through InHand's DeviceLive cloud platform.
Why InHand
- Hardware cost typically 30% or more below comparable enterprise cellular routers, at manufacturer list price
- Three-year manufacturer warranty included
- Cloud management through InHand DeviceLive; ask RCN for current platform terms.
- Field failure rate under 1% across deployed units, and sub-30-second cellular failover
- Sold, configured, and supported by RCN, with our U.S.-based 24/7 NOC available as a managed service

Right for you if
- Your edge application moves more data than LTE can carry: video, vision, large file sync
- You need gigabit wired ports in a cabinet-mounted router
- You are future-proofing new industrial sites on 5G while keeping LTE fallback
- You need serial ports and Wi-Fi in the same unit
IR624 vs. IR315 vs. FWA12
Choose the IR624 for 5G and gigabit Ethernet in a DIN-rail industrial package. Choose the IR315 when LTE Cat 6 is sufficient and you want five ports, I/O options, or GNSS at a lower price. Choose the FWA12 for a 5G router in an office or retail environment rather than a control cabinet. See the full InHand Networks lineup at RCN.
Common deployments
Smart manufacturing and remote PLC monitoring, factory and warehouse robots, medical device production lines, high-bandwidth remote camera and inspection systems, and OT networks that require VPN and 802.1X at the edge.
FAQ
Does the IR624 support standalone (SA) 5G?
Yes. The NRQ3 module supports both 5G SA and NSA, with LTE and WCDMA fallback. Verizon certification is listed for NSA; confirm your carrier's SA availability with RCN.
Can it run without Wi-Fi or serial?
InHand offers no-Wi-Fi builds; the model sold here (IR624-NRQ3-WLAN-S) includes both Wi-Fi and the RS-232/RS-485 pair. Ask RCN if you need a different build.
How is it managed?
Through InHand's DeviceLive cloud platform for batch management, monitoring, diagnostics, and remote maintenance. Ask RCN about current platform terms.
Can RCN monitor and support it after purchase?
Yes. RCN's U.S.-based 24/7 NOC can monitor and support InHand deployments as a managed service, quoted separately from the hardware.
How long does it take to ship?
InHand hardware ships direct from the manufacturer's U.S. distribution. Lead times vary by model and quantity; ask us for a current estimate before you order if timing is critical.
Can we purchase on a purchase order or government contract?
Yes. RCN sells through GSA Schedule and cooperative contracts including NASPO ValuePoint, Sourcewell, OMNIA Partners, and Equalis Group, and we can invoice approved accounts on a PO. Ask us to route your order through the right vehicle.
