PNK R1900 Dual Modem

The PNK R1900 Dual Modem is RCN Technologies' highest-availability Pop-Up Network Kit: a ruggedized Ericsson Cradlepoint R1900 platform with two independent 5G modems, each on its own SIM and carrier, in a transport case with chargers. When one carrier degrades or drops, the other is already carrying traffic. There is no switchover gap.

This is the configuration RCN specifies for elections, major incident command, and emergency operations where going offline has consequences. Everything else about the kit matches the single-modem version: one-button start, 100 devices, 300-foot range, Wi-Fi 6, FirstNet Trusted hardware, and RCN provisioning before it ships.

PNK R1900 Dual Modem vs. Single Modem vs. PNK R980

Choose the Dual Modem when carrier redundancy is a requirement. The PNK R1900 Single Modem has the same capacity on one carrier with dual-SIM failover and costs less. The PNK R980 is the compact kit for smaller teams. Fleet vehicles that need a dual-modem router without the case start with the R1900 and its RX30-MC modular modem accessory.

FAQ

What does the second modem actually change?
Each modem holds its own SIM on a different carrier and stays registered on the network. NetCloud can balance traffic across both or fail over instantly. A single-modem kit with dual SIM must re-register on the second carrier, which takes seconds to minutes.

Does it need IT setup?
No. RCN provisions the kit in NetCloud before it ships. One button press brings the network online; devices join the Wi-Fi like any other network.

How many devices can connect?
Up to 100 simultaneous devices within roughly 300 feet of the kit, depending on terrain and building materials.

Which carriers does it use?
Any of AT&T (including FirstNet), Verizon, or T-Mobile. RCN activates the SIM on the carrier with the best coverage for where you deploy, or on the plan you already hold.

Can we buy it on a cooperative contract?
Yes. The PNK is available on GSA Schedule, NASPO ValuePoint, Sourcewell, OMNIA Partners, and Equalis Group, and can be invoiced on a PO.

Who supports it in the field?
RCN handles provisioning and onboarding before the kit ships, and the NetCloud plan includes Cradlepoint support for the full term. If you want the kit monitored in use, RCN's U.S.-based 24/7 NOC is available as a managed service (quoted separately). The router carries Cradlepoint's warranty for the life of the NetCloud plan.
